Asbestos-protective equipment and equipment agaisnt asbestos are not interchangable products. The security of their users is essential. To preserve it, the law sets obligations in terms of maintenance.. Recently, regulations have been strengthened, especially for respiratory protection devices. Remember that any breach of the employer’s obligation to safety incurs criminal liability.

The decree on March 7th, 2013 concerning the selection, maintenance and verification of personal protective equipment used in operations involving a risk of exposure to asbestos requires that the respirators be adapted to the conditions of operations and the morphology of users through the performance of “fit-tests”..

Users should also be trained in the rules & instructions for the care and use of respiratory protection devices (APR).

The conditions for cleaning, storage, overall maintenance and maintenance of the equipment must comply with all regulations and manufacturer’s instructions. After each use, the APR must of course be decontaminated. A check of the general state, the accurate functioning and the maintenance in conformity of the APR is to be carried out on the equipment after any intervention or any event likely to alter its effectiveness. This check is to occur at least every twelve months.

Similar to the APRs, all asbestos removal equipment used on site must be checked according to the manufacturer’s instructions and at least every 12 months.

As regards the traceability of the controls of the devices, the decree ofApril 8th, 2013 requires that the results of the checks be recorded in the safety register by specifying the dates and the results of the dust measurements, the results of the compliance check. the occupational exposure limit value, the justification of the maintenance and renewal of the protection means, the site monitoring parameters, the network logging certificates, the reports of the installations and equipment subject to periodic verification.

The BEST teams are at your disposal to help you meet these legal obligations, to ensure the maintenance of your equipment, whether rented or not, and to carry out all the necessary checks for maximum security.
